What is Hifumi Norito?
Hifumi Norito is an ancient Japanese Shinto chant.
The words are mainly old Japanese numbers:
1 (Hi), 2 (Fu), 3 (Mi), 4 (Yo), 5 (Itsu), and so on.
The chant is used for spiritual purification.
In Japanese Shinto, people believe that negative energies (impurities) can attach to people, places, and objects.
By chanting Hifumi Norito, these bad energies are spiritually cleansed and removed.
This helps restore balance, peace, and harmony.
Many believe that the sound itself holds spiritual power (kotodama) that drives away misfortune and brings good energy.
It is often used in:
• purification rituals at shrines
• spiritual healing
• meditation
• daily cleansing of mind and spirit
Even though the words are simple, many feel spiritually refreshed after chanting.
